The 123s can be easily bought online, but trying to find them in the store in near impossible. Great lightweight light for sure! You wont find many headlamps this light. You are right on the carrying extra batteries, three extra batteries weighs a lot less than the three alkaline AA's that most of my headlamps run on. As far as them being hard to find, I plan on getting a couple rechargeables and, if you stocked up on AAA's or AA's isn't it just as easy to stock up on 123's?
