Getting Into Archery Seminar at Bass Pro Shops
The interest in archery has been on the rise lately, with much to do with the archery craze in the mainstream media and movies like BRAVE, The Hunger Games and The Avengers. In an effort to help answer some of the questions, Bass Pro Shops in Rancho Cucamonga, CA has graciously invited me to come in and give a seminar on Getting Into Archery during the Set Your Sights program right now. Being a self-proclaimed archery nut, I am very excited to share my knowledge during this seminar. I am no expert, and don't claim to be, but I do love archery and I want to help those interested in getting started! Plus, it's being held at a great venue!

I will be giving the seminar both Saturday, May 5 and Sunday, May 6 at 4 PM.

Some of the topics we will discuss are:
  1. Learning where to begin by gathering information. Places like Bass Pro staff, Pro Shops, other archers, online forums, etc.
  2. Archery Tackle: The Gear
    • Traditional vs. Compound bows
    • Release-aids vs. Finger shooting
    • Arrows
  3. SAFETY! <-- This should be a no-brainer, but I will cover it nonetheless.
  4. Proper form and why it is VERY important. I recommend you take some lessons. If you can shoot well, using the proper form you will enjoy archery for life.
  5. I'll also discuss Archery Pro Shops, like Bass Pro Shops and the available staff to help answer any questions you have.
There will be a Q&A session after where I'll be available to answer archery related questions. Also remember that the Bass Pro staff will be available to answer questions in the archery department.

The most important thing to remember is to be safe and have FUN and enjoy yourself!

See you at the seminar!

  1. Glad to see an informed and passionate archer will be teaching the seminar.
    Proud of ya!

  2. Looking forward to this. Let me know if I can be of any help.

  3. I wish I could make it! Have fun, Al!

  4. Cool deal Al! You should have someone video some of these and post the clips for us in different time zones!!

  5. Thanks guys. Would be great to have all of you there!

@Cody - I am all set for the seminar. Thanks for the offer! See you there.

@Ben - I have videoed the last couple seminars. The problem with video taping is where they have me you can't really set up a camera in the right spot because of the tight space and the audio is thrown off. I have a wireless mic, but keeping track of your camera gear and your archery equipment can be a lot of work. I'd rather just do the seminar (which is free). I have had some offers from people to video, but my experience with that is they get trigger happy with the zoom. I'd rather them set up the camera and not touch it. I'm really picky because editing these can take some time.
