'BRAVE' Youth Archery Tournament

Participation in archery is on the rise and it is exciting to see! The Pasadena Roving Archers and the City of Pasadena Parks and Recreation are putting on a youth archery tournament on June 10, 2012 to benefit the Pasadena Ronald McDonald House. You will need to pre-register here in order to participate. Youth means 16 and under, so if you fall in that age range and want to enter, do not hesitate. This is for experienced archers and not beginners, so keep that in mind. Good luck!

  2. My daughter who shoots nationally, statewide is so so upset due to the fact she has a compound bow. Archery is a sport that is shared by many types of bows, so this isnt well supportd by all the kids who do compound. They may like to see the movie, like my daughter does but this doesnt change the fact this issue. How sad is that!

    1. If they were to make a seperate competition for compound bows that would make it ok for your daughter to shoot, but it is not fair to put a kid shooting a compound up against a recurve, compounds have a much farther range, which in turn would make it easier for her to hit the target.

  3. I agree, Ben.

@Anonymous - I can see why your daughter might be upset, but this competition is using traditional skills. I see nothing wrong with it. They weren't using a compound in Brave, The Avengers or in Hunger Games. No sights, stick and string.

The fact that she's even out there shooting is great!
